Volunteer contributions are a value-added enhancement to City services and provide the volunteer with a unique perspective of City government and non-profit organizations. Volunteers have an opportunity to discover new interests, meet new people, and develop new skills.

Animal Control
The City of Pearland Animal Control & Adoption Center is seeking volunteers to walk dogs, help with cats and other animals, assist with off-site adoptions, help residents search for lost pets, take photos of animals in need of a home, clean Adoption Center facilities, and more. Citizen's Police Academy
Have you ever wondered, "Why do officer's do that?" Would you like to gain working knowledge of the duties of a police officer? Consider registering for a Citizen's Police Academy class! Students will receive instruction on Thursday nights from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on the different aspects of policing. Course topics include the police hiring process, Penal Code and Transportation Code, Arrest Procedures and Crash Investigation. There is no cost to attend and graduates become part of the Pearland Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (PCPAAA). Communications
The City of Pearland is seeking volunteers to help with taping City Council or Planning and Zoning Meetings, organizing equipment, logging video and photos, delivering printed marketing pieces and other collateral to City facilities and video production from writing scripts to covering actual City events. Parks and Recreation
Volunteers are invited to help with various stewardship activities in city parks, trails, and natural areas. Activities vary by season, and training and tools will be provided, so no prior experience is needed, only the desire to help. Opportunities are available in all neighborhoods, and many activities are great for large groups, families, or youth groups with adult supervisors. Volunteers can also support the City of Pearland Parks & Recreation special events. One day or short-term service activities are also available.

Eyes of Pearland
The Eyes of Pearland could use a few more “eyes.” The volunteer citizens group, The Eyes of Pearland, assists the City in identifying current and potential health code violations. In the awareness program, volunteers do not perform enforcement, but instead assist in education, identification and notification. As part of training, the group attends 6 hours of classes over a three-week period at various times throughout the year, focusing on City code of ordinances and violations.
